Teenage Acne Treatment

Your Teen Acne Treatment Options & More

Teenage acne affects over 80 percent of all teenagers at some point in their teenage years. Although it is not clearly known what exactly teenage acne IS, there are many ways in which teenage acne can begin.
One of the main causes of teenage acne is hormones. It is not just the hormones alone that cause teenage acne, but it has to do with what those hormones DO to the teen’s body.
Teenage acne all begins with heightened levels of hormones in the body. The hormones in response cause much larger amounts of oils in the skin to be produced. Teenage acne is actually a result of the large amounts of oils being produced due to hormones combining with dead skin cells which are also being quickly shedded. This combination of dead skin cells and constant oil production become a hot bed for acne causing bacteria to live in. in addition to the oils and dead skin cells are larger amounts of sebum which is produced in greater amounts and provide the teenage acne bacteria the nutrients they need to survive and reproduce in your pores.
Once these things are underway, inflammation occurs and teenage acne begins.
So what can a person do to help prevent teenage acne?
There are many things a person can do to prevent it such as keeping a proper diet and exercise schedule. Even though, there is not much evidence that improper diet and lack of exercise helps prevent teenage acne, it does help detoxify one’s body and prevent other forms of acne in addition to keeping the person’s skin and body healthy.
What really seems interesting is some people have mentioned that exercise increases your levels of acne. This is purely a myth as we have done quite a bit of research on the topic and it seems that dermatologists and other professionals do not believe that in order to prevent acne one must stop exercising.
We have also heard that just being plain dirty will cause teenage acne. But we have not found any real evidence that going on a camping trip, for example, will cause teenage acne. Now one thing that may help bacteria grow inside your follicles and pores would be by not washing your skin. Remember that teenage acne is caused mostly by bacteria growing in your pores clogged with oil and dead skin cells produced in much greater amounts because of increased hormone levels.
Speaking of hormones, acne in teens has also been thought to be increased by either too much sex or no sex at all. While some of these factors may cause stress-related acne if a person became so stressed out because of whatever issue they had with sex, or lack thereof, sex is not one of the main causes of teenage acne. However, it may very well be influenced by the teenage acne causing hormones that are raging through teens’ bodies, but sex is usually not considered a cause of teen acne.
Now that we all know that teenage-acne is mainly caused by heightened levels of hormones produced, it is a good idea to practice good acne prevention methods and keep your skin clear of those teenage acne bacteria-housing oils and dead skin cells. There are many over the counter products which can help prevent teenage acne from really taking over and we highly recommend that you look at all of your teenage acne prevention options here at AcneSpotTreatment.org online as well as with your dermatologist.
